Risek I.V. is an injectable proton pump inhibitor designed for rapid and effective reduction of stomach acid. It is specifically indicated for patients who are unable to take oral medications due to acute illness or medical procedures. The treatment is typically used for a short duration, up to 5 days, to manage various acid-related conditions. One primary application is the management of severe Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease.

Risek I.V. is also highly effective for the treatment and prevention of ulcers associated with the use of NSAIDs. Clinically, it is a vital tool for managing duodenal ulcers and pathological hypersecretory conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Another critical use in a hospital setting is the prophylaxis of acid aspiration during anesthesia. By delivering the medication directly into the bloodstream, it achieves faster control of gastric pH than oral forms.
